Calliope, splendour of the sacred word, yours is the voice that carries the deeds of the Immortals beyond the reach of forgetting. To Zeus, father of the Muses, belongs the sovereignty that gathers their gifts into one divine concord. Receive our praise, beautiful-voiced Goddess. Hail to you, and hail to Zeus, whose glory is the beginning and fulfilment of the song.
After you are done with this, you can meditate on Calliope's Sigil in the Temple of Zeus. Let yourself be immersed and to receive energy from Calliope.
It's important to meditate on yourself after the Ritual calmly for a few minutes.
The sceptre and the voice
The third verse recalls the laurel branch given to Hesiod by the Muses. The new poem turns that account into direct address to Calliope. The sceptre here joins poetic authority to responsibility for the word: it is the authority to tell well, to make a matter intelligible, and to honour its full measure. Hesiod, Theogony 1–115; 135; 915–917
The word worthy of the Gods
The Golden Book invokes Calliope as guide of the solemn epic and asks for a voice worthy of the Gods. Sacred narrative is gathered from beginning to end, and each utterance is raised to the Immortals with fitting majesty. The prayer opens this rite in her own office: the divine gift of the great and faithful telling. The Golden Book of Zeus, Invocation of the Muses · Calliope
Reading the Shenu
The joined tablets and stylus are the centre of the seal. Laurel surrounds them; the lyre joins speech to music, and the spring beneath recalls the Muses’ mountain waters. The star and triangular arrangement gather these signs into one field of attention. This Shenu is a sacred composition for the present rite. The tablet belongs to Calliope’s later artistic tradition.
