"The great Pan is dead," they cried upon the sea.

On Pan
Pan (Greek: Πάν, "All") is the God of the wild, shepherds, flocks, rustic music, and companion of the Nymphs. Son of Hermes and the nymph Dryope. His syrinx (pan-pipes) was fashioned from the reeds into which the nymph Syrinx was transformed. The word "panic" derives from his power to send sudden, causeless terror upon armies. At Marathon (490 BC), the Athenians credited Pan with sending panic upon the Persians (Herodotus VI.105). Plato records Socrates praying to Pan at the close of the Phaedrus (279b-c). The cry "The great Pan is dead" (Plutarch, De Defectu Oraculorum 17) was weaponized by Yehuboric apologists to claim the end of the Gods.

On Gaap (Goetic #33)
Gaap is the thirty-third spirit: a President and Prince commanding 66 legions, one of the four cardinal spirits. His power to "make men insensible" corresponds to Pan's Panic. His teaching of philosophy matches Socrates's prayer to Pan. His transport between kingdoms matches Pan's role at thresholds. The name Gaap may derive from Hebrew gap ("chasm"), reflecting Pan's dwelling in caves.
